JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC

Nasolabial folds — often called smile lines or laugh lines — are those vertical lines that extend from the outsides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. When we’re young, our smile lines are usually seen only when we smile. But with age, they extend, deepen and become permanently noticeable.

While smile lines can be a beautiful thing — they showcase a life lived in laughter and joy — some people feel self-conscious about them. Luckily, you don’t have to feel that way, and you also don’t have to worry about ending up with a “frozen” or “overdone” look. JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC is specifically designed to treat smile lines, offering long-lasting and natural-looking results.

If you are interested in learning more about how Vollure can help restore the youthful skin you once enjoyed, please give Senza Aesthetic Medicine a call at 909-793-3563. Together, we can help your outer appearance reflect how you feel on the inside.

What Is Vollure?

Vollure is a hyaluronic acid filler developed by Allergan Aesthetics. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar molecule that works like a natural humectant in your skin, keeping it looking plump and youthful. Its production tends to decline with age, however, contributing to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

HA fillers are used to temporarily fill in fine lines and wrinkles, especially in the lower face. Vollure was specifically developed to correct moderate to severe wrinkles in the mid-face. This particular filler uses Vycross Technology, which combines high and low molecular weight HA. The end product has a thicker consistency than other HA fillers, which allows your provider to easily manipulate the product and create a more natural look. The results with this filler also last longer than with other fillers: 18 months vs. one year.

JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC FAQ's

Am I a Candidate for Vollure?

Nearly anyone over 21 who is concerned about their smile lines can be a candidate for Vollure. During your consultation, we will review your medical history to see if this treatment is right for you. Clients with severe allergies and a history of anaphylaxis may not be good candidates for this treatment. This is especially true for clients with a history of allergies to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins.

How Should I Prepare for Vollure?

Vollure is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure, so there is little preparation involved. It is a good idea to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medicine and supplements (e.g., NSAIDs, turmeric and vitamin E) in the days leading up to your procedure. This is to help minimize your risk of bruising. It is also ideal to come to your appointment with your skin free of makeup and skincare products.

What Should I Expect During a Vollure Treatment?

If you are concerned about discomfort, we may first apply a numbing cream to the treatment area. This, in combination with lidocaine found in the dermal filler, helps minimize pain during your treatment.

We will then clean the treatment area with an antiseptic and mark the planned areas for injection. Once you are ready, your provider will inject small amounts of Vollure into your skin and then gently massage the area to ensure the product is evenly distributed. Your provider may apply ice for a short time to the treatment area to minimize swelling. The whole treatment should last from about 15 minutes to an hour.

What Should I Expect During Vollure Recovery?

There is little to no downtime with Vollure. Most clients can resume their usual routine as soon as they leave our office. You may notice some redness, swelling and bruising around the treatment area, which should subside within a week. Some clients notice lumps in the treatment area, and this is also normal. It may take a couple of days for the product to settle.

Can I Combine Vollure With Other Procedures?

Yes! If you are also concerned about wrinkles in the upper part of your face and loss of volume in the mid-face and lips, we can combine Vollure with Botox, Dysport, and other HA fillers to rejuvenate your entire face.
