Peels come in all shapes and sizes. There are very light peels that simply remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin (with very little actual peeling), all the way to very deep peels that remove all the epidermis and part of the dermis. Peels can be very useful for patients with uneven pigmentation and wrinkles. We tend to use light peels at Senza to maintain improved skin. The reason being that patients do not want to have 7-14 days of down-time associated with deeper peels. For patients that are willing to take some time off and want a quick fix for sun damaged skin the Senza layers peel is an option. Peels are just another tool in the toolbox for treating sun damaged skin.
