How SenzaLux Max fractional CO₂ works

Fractional treatment
The laser delivers a grid of microscopic beams. Each one treats a tiny column of skin, leaving healthy skin untouched in between, so only a fraction of the surface is treated in each pass.

Controlled resurfacing
Inside each column, damaged tissue is vaporized and a controlled amount of heat spreads into the surrounding skin. That heat is what signals the skin to rebuild.

Collagen remodeling
As the skin heals, it produces new collagen and fresh surface cells. The untreated skin between the columns helps you heal faster than with traditional, fully ablative resurfacing.

Smoother, brighter skin
Over the following months, texture, fine lines, acne scars and sun damage can improve as collagen continues to rebuild.
From consultation to results

Consultation
Your provider examines your skin, reviews your history and goals, and plans the depth and areas to treat. Avoid tanning and sunburn in the weeks before treatment.
- Treatment day
About 1 to 2 hours
Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. The laser itself usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area.
- First week
Healing
Expect redness, swelling and a warm, sunburn-like feeling. Your skin will flake and peel as it renews. Most people plan about a week of social downtime.
- 1 to 6 months
Results build
Pinkness fades over the following weeks. Collagen keeps rebuilding for months, so skin tone and texture continue to improve well after treatment.
Who is a good candidate
SenzaLux Max is a good fit if you want a noticeable improvement in lines, scars or sun damage and can plan for about a week of healing. At your consultation your provider reviews your skin type, medical history and goals to decide whether SenzaLux Max, a gentler level such as SenzaLux or SenzaLux Lite, or a combination is the best plan.
Let us know if you are pregnant, get cold sores, have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past year, or tend to scar or darken after skin injuries. These do not always rule out treatment, but they change how we plan it.

Does SenzaLux Max hurt?
We apply a topical numbing cream before treatment. Most patients describe a warm, prickly sensation during the laser and a sunburn-like feeling for a day or two afterward.
How much downtime should I expect?
Most people plan about a week. Redness, swelling and peeling are normal in the first several days, and light pinkness can last a few weeks. Your provider will give you a personal aftercare plan.
How many treatments will I need?
Many patients see a meaningful change after one treatment. Deeper concerns such as acne scarring may benefit from a series. We will recommend a plan at your consultation.
When will I see results?
Your skin looks fresher once it has healed, usually within about a week. Collagen continues to rebuild for several months, so improvements in texture, lines and scars keep developing over 3 to 6 months.
Is SenzaLux Max safe for darker skin tones?
Deeper skin tones have a higher risk of pigment changes after laser treatment. We assess your skin type carefully and may adjust settings, prepare your skin in advance, or recommend a different treatment.
How is SenzaLux Max different from SenzaLux and SenzaLux Lite?
All three are SenzaLux fractional resurfacing. SenzaLux Lite and SenzaLux use the non-ablative Fraxel laser, with minimal to 3–5 days of downtime, for tone, sun spots and texture. SenzaLux Max uses an ablative fractional CO₂ laser that reaches deeper for wrinkles, scars and laxity, with about a week of downtime. Many patients use different levels at different times.
