Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Fractional laser resurfacing is the latest technology for resurfacing the face.  Fractional resurfacing targets small, neatly spaced areas of treatment that are surrounded by untouched skin.  This arrangement allows the skin to be aggressively treated but heal relatively quickly and with less risk.  This treatment has a couple of versions – ablative and non-ablative.  Ablative fractional laser resurfacing actually removes small columns of tissue while non-ablative fractional resurfacing heats up columns of tissue.  Fraxel is the most common non-ablative fractional laser and is the one we use.  Pearl fractional and SmartSkin are the two ablative technologies that we use.
