Venous Reflux Study

Treatment Information

This is an ultrasound study that is performed here at the office. You will be seeing a sonographer who is professionally trained to do these procedures. There will be a long period of standing with your weight shifting from one leg to the other and several blood pressure cuffs on your legs so make sure you have had something to eat and are well hydrated before the exam. This study will provide the doctor with a very accurate assessment of your leg veins. We will make sure there are not any pre-existing clots in your deep leg veins. Also, and most importantly we will be looking at the saphenous system both the greater saphenous and lesser saphenous veins. If there is any evidence of significant venous reflux, it will show up during the study. With this information the doctor will give you an appropriate treatment plan at a follow-up appointment.
