Treatment Information
The Obagi System represents a breakthrough and significant improvement in skin rejuvenation. This process includes 8 to 12 weeks of skin conditioning with the Obagi Nu-Derm System followed, in select patients, by the Blue Peel. The Nu-Derm Skin Care System is designed to restore health to sun and smoke damaged skin, as well as even out pigmentary problems involving the face and other areas of the body in skin of any color. The Nu-Derm system corrects surface discoloration and blemishes. It also penetrates into the skin to stimulate shin cell renewal, improve circulation and help rebuild collage. The normal barrier function of the skin is restored, making the skin less sensitive and better able to hydrate properly. After 6 weeks (one skin cycle), new skin cells emerge to the surface.
The Nu-Derm system consists of a group of complementary products containing active ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acids, hydroquinones and tretinoin. Alpha hydroxy acids (exfoliants) are incorporated into the Nu-Derm system to promote exfoliation and better penetration of the products. This results in improved hydration of the skin, and more rapid turnover of cells resulting in rejuvenation of the skin. The hydroquinones (skin lightening agents) correct sun damage, brown spots, uneven pigmentation including some cases of melasma (pregnancy mask). The tretinoin (Retin-A) incorporated into the Nu-Derm system improves the deeper collagen layer which results in smoother, firmer skin. Patients that are using this system have a very real improvement in their skin. This system improves and corrects sun damage and doesn't just mask it.
